Until I received this CD, I didn't know EMI had gotten into the old time radio biz. What they've produced here is merely mediocre: 12 tracks ripped from various radio programs; some of them qualify as "bleeding chunks". A lot of this material does not stand up well to repeated listening, and it was never meant to. Jones knew entertainment, and here we get several bits, such as Dance of the Hours, in embryonic form, before Jones and crew honed them into mini-masterpieces for records, where they _were_ meant for repeated listening. While the sound on this CD is clear, it didn't have to be as shrill as it is, and the midrange could have been better balanced. And whoever prepared EMI's package was apparently perplexed by the title of one cut, which contains material that would show up in perfected form in Jones' "Carmen Murdered"--the title is, "This is Your F-B-Aida", not "This is Your FBI-dea".This CD would be OK for a cheapie OTR company production. EMI should have done better.
